Mission
I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another – John 13:34
The Ashburnham Community Church is an Open and Affirming community of faith gathered to worship God and share in the ongoing ministry of Jesus Christ. Believing that all persons made in the image of God, we value and welcome diversity in our midst.
We welcome individuals and families of every age, race, culture, sexual orientation, gender identity, spiritual and religious tradition, mental and physical ability, education and economic circumstance. We celebrate the gifts of everyone and encourage all to participate fully in the life, leadership, ministry, and mission of this church.
In our attitudes, words, and actions we seek to express God’s inclusive love. We commit ourselves to work for peace, justice, and equality in our congregation, local community and the world. By God’s grace we seek to work for peace, justice, and equality in our congregation, local community and the world. We seek to grow as a safe, nurturing community of faith.
No matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey
you are welcome here!
Ashburnham Community Church Missions
The Ashburnham Community Church supports an active Food Pantry
Mission, serving the towns of Ashburnham and Ashby with both
perishable and non-perishable food items, thanks to the generous
support of our church and community families, local businesses,
organizations, schools and community groups. In addition to the regularly scheduled pickup days, the Food Pantry has
provided annual Thanksgiving and Christmas turkey dinners “with all the fixings” for two or three dozen needy families.
The Clothes Closet, a supplemental function of the Food Pantry,
provides clothing, housewares and toiletries donated by the community,
free of charge to the recipients of the Food Pantry program.
Church members provide and serve one hot meal per month to Our
Father’s House, in Fitchburg, for around thirty men, fifteen women and
a staff of six.
The annual Angel Tree Gift Program, supported by church families and
The Ashburnham Parks and Recreation Department, provides Christmas
gifts to needy children from newborn to age seventeen, responding to
the children’s “wish lists” with at least four gifts per child, and
generous gift certificates for use in local stores.
The Random Acts of Kindness program provides flowers, cards, words of
encouragement, notes of celebration, and sympathy to our church
families and friends and throughout the community. “Prayer shawls”,
knitted by church members and friends, are given to members of the
community to provide warmth in times of stress or loss.
